2010 Activity Calendar

Here's our 2010 event calendar. Our board has worked hard to plan these events. We hope to see you there!

NOTE: We've changed our regular chapter meetings to Wednesdays this summer.

Saturday, June 5,  9:00 to 12:00 a.m. TU volunteer day at the project to reconstruct the handicapped fishing deck on the Big Thompson. The thing is falling apart, and Dallas Maurer has initiated a project with the U.S. Forest Service to rebuild it to make it safe and attractive again.

Come out and help. Alpine Anglers will provide refreshments. You provide the labor and fellowship.

Wednesday, June 16,  7:00  to 9:00 p.m. Rick Takahashi--Chapter meeting and summer kickoff.

Rick Takahashi will present a program based on his new book, Modern Midges(Learn more about Rick.)

In addition, Chris Kennedy of the US Fish and Wildlife will talk about his 2010 field work plans and how you can help with greenback cutthroat restoration programs.

Wednesday, July 14, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Insect identification with Bert Cushing--We'll collect aquatic insects from the stream behind the library, and our own stream ecologist Dr. Colbert Cushing will help us put them under a microscope (literally) and show us the salient points of insect identification. Got a bug you want to know about? Bring it. Estes Park Library, Hondius Room
Wednesday, August 18, 4:00 to 7:00 Alpine Anglers picnic!  Just fun.  We'll start cooking about 5:00. Bring your rod and reel and try the lake. Sprague Lake
Saturday, Sept 18 TU statewide river cleanup. We'll plan to clean up the Big Thompson. Watch for details.  
Wednesday, Sept 22, 7:00 to 9:00 View the video Riverwebs. Follow a team of scientists as they experiment to learn more about how rivers work and about the relationship between river life and what's up on the bank.

We'll be at the Peak-to-Peak American Grill. Their bar will be available, so have a beer and learn something about river life.
